Building Together, Smarter: Cross-Team Prototyping with AI
As organizations adopt AI to accelerate product discovery, something unexpected is happening: teams are collaborating less. Tools speed up output, but not shared understanding — and many teams find themselves building in parallel silos, converging too late, and feeling more isolated than ever.
This session flips that script. In a highly interactive workshop, participants will experience Set-Based Concurrent Engineering (SBCE) in action. All teams will tackle the same user problem, yet take different paths using an AI prototyping tool. After a short design sprint, teams will engage in Compare-by-Advantages, reviewing and scoring each other’s prototypes based on human-centered criteria such as clarity, feasibility, and user delight. This process encourages constructive dialogue, surfaces diverse perspectives, and strengthens cross-team collaboration before any convergence occurs.
Through a second rapid iteration, teams refine their approaches using insights from other groups. The session concludes with a discussion on how AI can augment human collaboration rather than replace it, and how prototypes can sometimes create unrealistic expectations if human judgment is ignored.
Attendees will leave with hands-on experience in guiding AI-accelerated design work, methods for structured cross-team evaluation, and practical strategies to keep human connection at the center of product innovation.
Participants will learn to:
- Use a rapid AI prototyping tool to quickly generate and test ideas, enhancing creativity and shared understanding across teams.
- Apply Set-Based Concurrent Engineering (SBCE) at scale to explore multiple approaches collaboratively rather than compete in isolation.
- Structure decision-making conversations using Compare-by-Advantages that surface diverse perspectives and reduce conflict.
- Strengthen psychological safety by separating idea critique from personal critique.
- Identify risks of “prototype illusion” and improve communication with leaders and stakeholders.
- Apply AI tools in a way that increases shared understanding, creativity, and human connection among teammates.
